I consider my time with others as an exchange and I design workshops and sessions specifically to the individual(s) in the space. No workshop or performative project ends up the same - reflecting the dialogue and energy of those I engage with. In many ways, my work always has elements of an art installation, a happening - the audience comprises those within the space.
I draw upon performative techniques, restorative methods, and philosophical query to bring about heightened sensory awareness, in the external and internal space. I also take into consideration the various aspects that contribute to a shared practice: artificial and natural lighting, the season, the time of day, the energy of the individuals and how that transposes into a collective shared energy. Integrating this awareness creates an energy around the moment as a conscious shared experience. Some workshops might focus more on movement and embodiment practices, others might build upon written reflections and blind sketch drawings, or it might be a time of complete rest and soaking up eco-soundscapes. I try to listen to the moment and hone in on what is most needed in both creative play and personal circumstance. These are meditative environments that unfold into workshops, one-to-one sessions and even performative inquiries that climb onto the stage in various capacities. Often, what I offer is an opportunity to calm the nervous system, recalibrate mental patterning, and stoke a creative space for authenticity.
